Breaking it down, it\u2019s coffee plus brandy plus a coffee-infused liqueur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s talk about that last ingredient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most recipes online tell you to use Kahlua as the coffee liqueur. We do too, with good reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Kahlua?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Kahlua is a coffee liqueur from Mexico. The brand was first bottled in 1936 by a Mexican gentleman going by the name of Pedro Domecq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The avant-garde alcoholist brewed Kahlua to have a full-bodied, rich, and sweet flavor. You can definitely taste the coffee on it, along with hints of vanilla and caramel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for what goes into the vats\u2014the main ingredients of Kahlua are rum, sugar, and 100% arabica coffee. What comes out is a booze with 20% alcohol content. But that used to be much higher. Before 2004, Kahlua contained 26.5% alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to make coffee nudge<\/strong>?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, you don’t need a lot to make coffee nudge\u2014both in terms of ingredients and in terms of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This recipe should take you only about 11 minutes (1 minute prep + 10 minutes mixing<\/strong>). In these proportions, this recipe will yield 8 servings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 8 cups hot brewed coffee<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 8 fluid ounces coffee-flavored liqueur<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 8 fluid ounces brandy<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 4 fluid ounces creme de cacao<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2 cups whipped cream, garnish<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate sprinkles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Preparation<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    1. In the bottom of 8 coffee mugs, pour 1 ounce of each coffee liqueur and brandy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Pour in 1\/2 ounce each creme de cacao.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Fill each cup with hot coffee and garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
